This new entertaining phenomenon was social media, which came with its share of advantages and disadvantages. A social website called â€Å"My Space† sparked the social site revolution almost ten years ago, and connected millions of people around the world through the internet. Since My Space other popular social sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have made an incredible explosion on to the growing social scene. Twitter and Instagram are two social sites that allow ordinary people to follow the moves of high profile celebrities such as actors, musicians, and sports figures. There have been times when people have been victimized and attacked because of their comments and posts left on social sites, but this is one of the disadvantages of social media. Photos and remarks posted on social sites can sometimes be accessed by employers, but although those photographs and words maybe harmless ones employer can easily take them out of context and find them offensive. A person has to remember that first impressions can lasting impressions. Knowing The Advantages and Disadvantages Knowing the advantages and disadvantages on the uses of social media may alter the way one uses social media by causing them to use more or less privacy settings when online. One might decide to use social media more responsibly, and filter the content that they post on line. However, after knowing the advantages and disadvantages of using social media someone may not want to use social media at all. Honestly there are more reasons why a person should use social media in a mature manner, but obviously you cant know for certain who can and cant access ones social site page. Through the centuries views on metaphysics have been laid as foundations, altered for society or simply changed for the better. As this world continues to grow and modernize, so have our views. The contemporary views on metaphysics are extended upon the more traditional views laid in the ancient or medieval times. Martin Heidegger is a contemporary existentialist, who studied the reason of being. He was an important figure of philosophy in the 20th century. His views are very different from the ancient views of metaphysics. Plato was an ancient philosopher, who believed in the immortality of the soul. His most popular readings are the Allegory of The Cave, which depicts the reality in life. Their intention relies on the person itself. This can and will be applied in future studies of metaphysics. One of my favo rite ancient philosophers is Plato. I found his Allegory of The Cave to be really interesting. . We have a world that we physically see and one that is completely eternal and can only be percieved within. That is what Plato believed. Individuals are mentally shaped by two distinct realities. One is physical and one is invisible. Plato believed the highest form to believe in, is the invisble. The world that is unchanging and has been here long before we were. The story itself, displays three indivduals who are trapped in a cave and can only see shadows. They formed their own opinions and perspective on life in the cave. Once a prisoner was released, everything changed. All that he thought was true, actually wasnt reality. He informed the other two prisoners and they didn’t believe him. This story is fictional, but displays some cold hard truth. What we percieve through our senses, are no more than an opinion. I know many people who believe that farming is a way of life that is handed down from generation to generation, it is very much a tradition to them. The African American experience in the United States is one that could almost be described as irreparable. The African American debut in this country was one that started off as foul as a situation could be. The slavery experience ranks amongst some of the most inhumane eras in the history of mankind. The settlers in the colonies viewed Africans as only 3/5ths of a man and used Africans as tools, or pets, as opposed to acknowledging them as real thinking, loving, feeling human beings. Amazingly so, African Americans were able to advance in this society to a plateau in which we are now, by definition, accepted as equals. Racism still exists in many social institutions and mindsets of our citizens, but opportunity now is vast, compared to†¦show more content†¦African Americans were struggling hard enough to get basic equal rights as is, but this was still created to officially provide equality. On March 6, 1961, â€Å"President John F. Another thing that sets the company aparts from other airline companies is that reservations can be changed at will without corresponding penalties. To an ordinary customer, this service means so much. There’s another way Southwest is doing to gain more customers. This program was eventually modified to provide a better offer to customers who frequently fly the airline company. In February 2006, Southwest instituted Capacity Controls to redeeming its free tickets. This is not it in the cocktail there is more to the list. As the technology increases and the knowledge of our scientist about the DNA, RNA, Viruses, Bacteria, and other interesting things we are a step closer to the destruction of the virus. The hardest part of the virus is that it mutates a lot. Just like bacteria viruses do get resistant to drugs we take against them. For example if one catches cold or flu the doctors prescribe Amoxicycilin or something similar to it. If the patient doesn’t finish the dosage there is a likelihood for the cold virus to get resistant to Amoxicycilin resulting a second drug intake. Pharmaceutical industries are trying to take a new approach to make antiviral drugs. One recently developed shows remarkable effects on the herpes virus. The recent antiviral drug indirectly attacks the virus making it hard for the virus to develop resistance to. Until today what the antiviral drugs did was they interfered with the production of the essential protein by the viruses. Viruses are also denoted as parasites, meaning that they infect a host as its life support. To fight the war against the viruses University of Pennsylvania Medical Center researches took the herpes simplex virus for experimental purpose, they found out that by inhibiting certain set of cellular enzymes they can successfully stop all the viral activity which causes the host to become sick. â€Å"These enzymes are called cyclin-dependent kinases, or cdks. This enzyme along with other enzymes drive and coordinate cell division.† This enzyme is also used by other viruses for replication purposes thus what Penn. team did was they too the cdks inhibitor and infected the virus with it, the result that came out was that the cells didn’t replicate and the host cells were healthy. According to the statistics Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and Herpes Simplex Virus 2 strains have infected 80% and 20% respectively, the remarkable thing is that these cdks inhibitors work best on these two strains of HSV. Along with these two strains of HSV there is a third strain called Human CytoMegloVirus or HCMV which infects also 80% of the people, the cdks inhibitors shut this virus down for good. Tests are going to be conducted on the HIV, adenovirus, papovavirus, and parvovirus with the cdks inhibitors for these viruses work almost the same as HSV. If this drug works there might be a possibility for the people who have one of these viruses to be cured with one pill or with a cocktail in which one more pill is added to it. But the fight against viruses is not easy to win for they are just more complicated than what we think it is. I learned that human race has still one more chance to survive for few more years.
